"Bad People"

He’s still tweeting. I can’t believe he is still tweeting. Here’s how Trump responded to the outrage over his Muslim ban:


Let’s meet a family of “bad people” being torn apart as a result of Trump’s blatantly discriminatory refugee ban.

This is Dilbreen. He is a year and a half old. After an explosion in an Iraqi refugee camp, he was badly burned. To save his life, he was rushed to Shriner’s Hospital in Boston. 



His family was set to come meet their child in Boston. Then Donald Trump signed his infamous ban on refugees like Dilbreen’s parents and siblings, and their visas were immediately revoked.

The baby is in Boston. Alone. The family is still stranded in an Iraqi refugee camp.

These kind of horror stories are inevitable when you discriminate against huge groups of people based on religion and national origin as if their demographic makes them all “bad people.”

In October 2012, I got the call that every organizer dreams about. I was offered the chance to hop on a plane with my campaign team, fly to rural Colorado, and work on President Obama's re-election. It was a campaign, a candidate, and a message I believed in....YES WE CAN. I was a wide-eyed idealist, drunk on hopes and dreams of change and progress.

We have made a lot of progress in the last eight years. I, for one, am proud of the policies President Obama put forward and the things we accomplished under his Presidency. While the last few months have been disheartening to say the least, I am still that wide-eyed idealist deep inside. President Obama will be sorely missed, but his legacy, our progress, and his message will live on. I have to believe that we can still make change, and we can still come together as a country. I have to believe that deep down, we as citizens want many of the same things, and ultimately will decide to work together to have policies we are proud of as a country.

Even though Obama's time as our President is coming to an end, our work as a country feels like it is just beginning. Our role as citizens needs to be bigger, it HAS to be bigger. Like President Obama said, it is time to lace up our shoes and get to work.

Oxfam Unleashes Devastating Moral Condemnation of Trump's Refugee Ban

Before I even start I would like to ask you to sign Oxfam's petition against Trump's refugee ban and then read my post about it:


In light in of Donald Trump's executive order banning refugees of genocide from finding asylum in the United States, it seems like a pretty good time to support Oxfam, an anti-poverty and human rights group that's been standing up for refugees since before it was cool.

Oxfam is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year. For three-quarters of a century, Oxfam has stayed out of partisan politics. They rarely name and shame individual politicians. But this is one of those moments in history where the policies of the man in power are such a moral outrage that all of us are forced to pick a side. As the historian for the voiceless, Howard Zinn, once said, "You can't be neutral on a moving train." [1]

RSVP to The Next Big Nationwide March

Save the date! On April 15th, Tax Day, you and I and all of your friends are going to participate the biggest nationwide march against Trump since the wildly successful Women's March the day after his inauguration. You didn't think that whole "take-to-the-streets" business was just a one-time thing, did you? We have to keep up the momentum: this isn't a party, it's a movement.

The Women's March built solidarity among protesters with a wide range of views on every topic from reproductive rights to refugee rights. That's what we needed after the inauguration: to build a coalition to resist this dangerous new Administration.

But this Tax March will employ a different strategy. Organizers of the demonstration say they have a single demand: that Donald Trump release his tax returns. This will guarantee that the media coverage of the event will be focused on one of Trump's biggest weaknesses. The failure to release his tax returns highlights his secrecy over his unprecedented conflicts of interest -- he does business all over the world. He likely will create policies favorable to his own businesses, and as long as he hides his tax returns, we will never know how deep this corruption goes.

Trump voters overlooked the man's disgusting character flaws because they thought he was a champion for working class families. The way to break down this facade is to show that Trump is not making decisions to benefit you and your family, but rather to enrich himself. This march will highlight this fact with a laser focus on a message every citizen can understand: Donald Trump, release your tax returns!

Watch out for our new Podcast: Activated Citizen Radio! We are three committed activists working to activate as many people as we can. I listen to plenty of political podcasts myself and appreciate the important work those journalists do, but we hope to offer a unique perspective: politics looks quite different when you're in the middle of a crowded #NoBanNoWall rally than it does when you're "providing commentary" from afar, sitting atop the safe perch of professional punditry.
